SCIENCE UPRISING: No, the ‘Fossil Record’ Does NOT Prove Evolution

We’ve all seen the illustrations showing the monkey on all fours followed by a succession of increasingly upright, steadily more human-appearing figures that allegedly demonstrates the course of evolution that produced us all. Only ignorant bigots who never got past the Scopes thing question the illustration, right?

It’s a miracle! Power tool enables Luci to walk upright. Screenshot from “Science Uprising.”

The truth is that there is more — and much, much less — than meets the eye in such illustrations, though you would never learn that from the standard textbooks used in American public schools and college classrooms for several generations.

To cite just one example, the textbooks never say anything about the anthropologist taking a drill sander to Luci’s hip bones to make them fit, literally and figuratively, the evolutionist narrative.

Something else the textbooks don’t deal with is the truth about “Ida,” the 2009 “Darwinius masillae” fossil find near Frankfurt, Germany, that was hailed as evolutionists’ “Mona Lisa,” the “Eighth Wonder of the World,” and the new “Rosetta Stone.”  Then the truth came out – Ida was a Lemur.

You can see it all for yourself because in the latest “Science Uprising,” the increasingly popular video series on the Discovery Science News Channel:

They have always been bigots. They just don’t recognize the behavior in themselves. They dig up some remains that don’t look exactly like they do and surmise that the individual must have been less than human. The sad fact remains that if we look around us at others, we find all the traits they said made these poor ancestors who’s graves they have violated less than human – sloping foreheads, large jaws, different body builds … These features in humanity don’t make a person less than human and the findings keep proving them wrong. So they alter the remains, alter the narrative, and keep avoiding facing their own judgements.

From a (real) scientific point of view it is impossible to prove something, only disprove it (falsify it). There are certainly many things that point to Intelligent Design, but ultimately, if we can’t replicate the evolution of life in the laboratory its all just speculation. A few years ago an acquaintance and I were discussing Evolution, and he told me that some guest speaker at his church had shown that (to paraphrase) all the fossil evidence of the dinosaurs had been misinterpreted, that the little ones were just the children of the big ones. It saddened me to see his need to compromise his intellectual integrity to accommodate what he thought his faith demanded of him.

Joseph Ratzinger’s point that faith and reason are both required is fundamental.
