Congressional Aides Explain Why They Keep Coming Back to HillFaith’s Monday Lunches

(QUICK READ) — Dozens of aides with jobs at all levels of responsibility from 36 congressional offices and both parties meet on Mondays on the second floor of a townhouse located right behind the Supreme Court building for a unique lunch experience.

They call it “For Hill Aides Only” and it has been meeting in that townhouse, with the 10 Commandments in the front yard, for several years (109 2nd Street NE) now. Some Mondays there may only be half a dozen aides, other Mondays there could easily be three times as many. Schedules are unpredictable when you work on the Hill, right?

“For Hill Aides Only” meets Mondays at 12:30 – 1:30 at 109 2nd Street NE, right behind the Supreme Court building.

What is perfectly predictable is that the lunch is always free and it’s always something really tasty!

And the Bible study, fellowship, idea exchanges, mentoring experiences, networking and laughter are always really helpful.

Here in their own words is why four current and one former Hill aide keep coming back week after week. They are anonymous in deference to bosses who may be sensitive about religious identification concerns:

“I’ve been attending HillFaith’s Monday study for several years now and have found it to be a great spiritual/fellowship resource, especially when things get hectic.” – Chief of Staff, House GOP Appropriations Subcommittee Chairman.

“HillFaith gives me the opportunity to have topic-based discussions about Biblical truths that don’t normally occur in a Congressional office. It’s been a great way to meet people and stay connected to my faith. Having a neutral space where Christians from the House and Senate can share their beliefs is the highlight of my week.” – Professional Staff Member, Midwestern GOP Senator.

“Hill Faith has been a refreshing and much-needed opportunity to pause from the intensity of Hill work and be renewed through prayer, Scripture, and fellowship with other Christ followers. It’s deepened my understanding of the Bible with verse-by-verse study and strengthened my confidence in sharing my faith with colleagues. I’m truly grateful for this weekly time of encouragement and actual study of the Bible – a rarity in church small groups outside of sermon recaps.” – Communications Director for a House Democrat.

“Through HillFaith, the Lord has provided the gift of fellowship. I have a stronger bond with fellow believers on the Hill because of HillFaith. HillFaith had also equipped me with the ability to justify my faith among colleagues using logic and reason, and I am more confident in my testimony whenever I share my faith with others.” – Former Professional Staff Member, House Bipartisan Task Force on Attempted Assassination of Former President Donald Trump.
“HillFaith has been a stream of living water in the desert. It is a place where I can come on Mondays for lunch to be fed spiritually and physically. The study has deepened my faith and provided me clarity when I’ve faced difficult situations at work.
“I’ve found spiritual nourishment and genuine connections with fellow Hill staff who understand the unique pressures of our work. These relationships have encouraged me and help remind me of what truly matters amid the fast-paced environment of Capitol Hill.” – Professional Staff Member, Western GOP Senator

Paganism was thankfully eliminated in America and replaced with Christianity. Same as Europe with the wiccan pagan culture. Paganism is the same everywhere in every culture, tribe and century. Grotesque sexual practices, child abuse, slavery, prostitution, polygamy, abuse of women, kidnapping, brain washing, hallucinating drugs, child sacrifice, cannibalism, etc. and etc. If people were taught the grotesque, inhumane and insane practices of paganism, they wouldnt ask why it was conquered finally and replaced by good things. When early settlers outlawed Christmas, they obviously werent trying to cut out the celebration of Christ and the liberating morality that He brought to the earth. They were outlawing horrible criminal activities, the resurgence of European paganism practices that were being celebrated as Christmas in the colonies. Those same pagan practices are still illegal today in America and in most civilized countries. It was a good thing that paganism was replaced with a wholesome Christian holiday of Christmas.
