LONG STORY SHORT (3): What’s the Real Deal on Antibiotic Resistance and Bacterial Evolution?
If you took a biology course anywhere in the past multiple decades, odds are good you heard some form of the argument that Darwinian Evolution can be seen happening right in front of our very eyes.
It’s called Antibiotic Resistance — the process whereby bacteria develop over time the ability to be unfazed by those wonder drugs that humans have been creating for lo these many years.
But, as more is learned about things like DNA, RNA and the processes by which bacteria exist, the more clear it is that Antibiotic Resistance may actually NOT be Darwinian Evolution happening before our very eyes.
That’s the argument of the following third entry in the Discovery Institute Center for Science and Culture’s animated video series, Long Story Short. HillFaith posts these each Friday. All of the videos are produced in conjunction with a bunch smart, sciency guys and gals.
