There was a time not that long ago when the Newsboys were among the most famous Christian music bands in the world, with a string of six best-selling albums that brought members of the group great material wealth, status, and celebrity.

John James, the lead singer for the Newsboys and one of the group’s co-founders, was right there as the band gained immense success and popularity. But appearances can be deceiving and that was especially the case with James.
“It’s easy to be great from a distance when the limelight is on but behind the closed doors, when no one is watching, when you’re not on stage, when no one is around, the limelight will begin to expose the defects in your character, in who you are in your foundations,” James explains in the following 9:10 video.
Be prepared because James is absolutely frank, but he is also clearly in love with the Lord Jesus who brought him out of his lostness and into the bright light of His eternal love:
