CONSIDER THIS: Did the Ancient Chinese Know About Jesus?

(13:09) — This will come as a shock to many readers, just as it did to this author, but there is compelling, though not conclusive, evidence that the ancient Chinese worshiped a monotheistic deity, Shangdi, who exhibited characteristics that closely mirror those of Yahweh, the god of ancient Israel.

The following video was produced by Christian Way, a Catholic-oriented Christian apologetics and educational group. This video exhibits a high level of academic research, an acknowledgement of significant criticisms, and superb production quality. Its a bit long at 13:09, but well-worth your time.

What if ancient Chinese court astronomers knew about the lamb on the cross? (Screenshot from YouTube)

The essence of the presentation is evidence from ancient dynastic records that indicate China’s religion was monotheistic and based on animal sacrificial atonement much like ancient Israel.

That is one aspect, and the other is evidence that court astronomers knew about the events we know of as the birth, the death and the resurrection of Christ. A key is the darkness that came over the entire world, according to the Gospel accounts, when Jesus died.

If that is true, as the producers indicate, it is further evidence that Christianity is not merely a western religion, but rather a faith that predates every other major contemporary belief system and that is universal in scope.

Watch this one, then I ask you to please share your thoughts in reaction in the comments, regardless if they are critical, complimentary, puzzled or shocked. Trust me on this one because I’ve experienced each of those reactions in my multiple viewings:

Compelling research seemingly looking for acknowledgment, China knew without seeing. 100 million Christians in China strains credulity.
