CONSIDER THIS: Where Are Your Memories Stored?
Ask 1,000 randomly selected people where their memories are stored and the vast majority of them will respond that their memories are stored in their brains. Some may even ask something like “where else could they be stored?”
But the evidence is growing that memories are not “things” that can be stored like tools that are storied in a tool box, just waiting to be picked up to be used again. As Dr. Michael Egnor explains in Evolution News and Science Today (EN):
“It is commonplace in neuroscience (and in ordinary conversation) to think of memories as ‘things’ that are stored in the brain. This is not merely wrong scientifically, it is nonsense. Memory is ‘knowledge retained and not forgotten.’ Memories are psychological, not physical, things. They can no more be stored in your brain than wishes and dreams can be stored in your pocket.”
