CONTRADICTIONS: Are the Jesus Genealogies in Matthew and Luke Different?

Contradiction? What do you think? Photo by 愚木混株 cdd20 on Unsplash
Pointing to alleged contradictions in the Bible is among the most common “ah ha!” moments whenever critics of Christianity make their cases against faith in Jesus Christ as the Resurrected Son of God who is the only path to eternal life (See John 14: 1-11).
Michael Jones of InspiringPhilosophy.org specializes in addressing these issues on the basis of his extensive knowledge of and digging around in ancient history, philosophy, textual analysis and other scholarly disciplines.
In the following 3:59 installment of Michael’s video series on “Supposed Bible Contradictions,” he takes up the claim that the genealogies provided for Jesus by Matthew and Luke are completely different.
This allegation is profoundly significant if it’s true because it would tend to bolster the claims of critics that the disciples made up details as they went along in the years after Jesus’ death on the cross, and, because they were widely separated, had varying degrees of accurate recall and other reasons, in the process contradictions were inevitable.
Well, not so fast there, Johnny Scoffer!
