STAFF NEWS: Harvard, Columbia Lead Ivy Leaguers Working on Capitol Hill

A total of 854 of the approximately 15,000 congressional staff aides are graduates of one of the eight Ivy League schools, with the most coming from Harvard (244), second-most from Columbia (158) and third-most from Yale (102), based on HillFaith searches of Legistorm’s comprehensive database.

Penn ranks fourth with an even 100 graduates working on the Hill, followed by Cornell at 79, Brown with 65, Princeton at 63 and Dartmouth with 43.

Among the Ivy League law schools, Harvard has 72 graduates on Hill staffs, Yale has 25, Columbia has 23, Penn 13 and Cornell 7.

By way of comparison with randomly selected non-Ivy League schools, congressional staffs have 248 people who cite degrees from the University of Maryland, 185 individuals who list degrees from the University of Virginia, and 176 from the University of Texas.

There are 131 from the University of Georgia, 89 from Ohio State University, 88 from Liberty University, 87 from the University of Chicago, 71 from the University of Southern California, 63 from Brigham Young University, and 48 from the University of Oklahoma.
