WHAT WOULD YOU SAY: Are the Kids Really Fine?

If you’ve heard it once, you’ve heard it a thousand times – “The kids will be fine.” Well, no, actually, the data is in and it shows overwhelmingly that, compared to the traditional nuclear family of Married Father and Mother, with their children, the kids aren’t going to be fine.

As Katy Faust of the Colson Center makes devastatingly clear, the consequences of America’s move from No-Fault Divorce in the late 1960s and 1970s, through gay marriage and most recently the creeping acceptance of polyamory, the effects on kids have gone from bad to much, much worse.

The sad truth is, there hasn’t been a lot of good news on the marriage and family front for several decades. This is an issue area where Christians, agnostics and atheists should have some fundamental agreements, based on the data.

These issues are especially crucial for Hill aides because this is where Americans make the laws that govern our society. After all, why not adopt policies that result in positive benefits for America, rather than creating new and more serious problems?

Traditional families produce far more and deeper positive benefits than any of the currently acceptable alternatives. In fact, the latter too often produce much pain (physical, emotional, financial) and suffering:
