SECRETS OF THE CELL (EPISODE 7): The Miracle of the Human Blood Clotting System

Biochemist Michael Behe
If you are like me, you can’t pick up a wrench and work on something mechanical such as a car or a lawn mower without “busting” at least one knuckle.
Quite often, there is some bleeding, but it’s minor and it stops after just a few minutes. No big deal, we shrug it off and go on about our business.
But what if the bleeding did not stop? We humans take for granted that minor wounds that result in some loss of blood always “clot” and the bleeding ends. If the bleeding doesn’t end, then we die because eventually we will bleed out.
Odds are you have no idea how amazing is the clotting system in the human body or how remote are the odds that this life-saving process evolved by random. I certainly didn’t before watching the following video narrated by scientist Michael Behe of the Discovery Institute. Enjoy:
I don’t watch videos, because I’m not one who has the luxury of having a place to turn up the sound, and expend blocks of time. I read, stop when I have to, and return when I can. It’s a pity that this option isn’t offered. Or is it vanity that requires the videos?
We are outliers, my friend. Most folks these days have the attention span of a gnat and therefore must watch videos rather than read. I much prefer to read information since I can do so much, MUCH more quickly and my retention is nearly 100% when I have read something but somewhat lower with video and audio.
I do think there is an element of vanity at work here too. Writing words down is not nearly as sexy as making a video.
