FAITH OF THE FOUNDERS: What Four D.C. Memorials Tell Us
(8:20 WATCH) — Whenever the nation’s capital is a topic of conversation, the focus is almost certainly on politics, or the grandeur of the Capitol, or the wealth of historically significant places to visit throughout the metropolitan area.

What is likely rarely, if ever, a topic of such conversation is the role of Intelligent Design (ID), or the idea that the material universe is the product of purposeful creation and not merely the chance interplay of molecules in motion.
In fact, as the Discovery Institute’s John West explains in the following 8:20 video, such convictions were central to the beliefs and actions of three great men forever immortalized in Washington, D.C. monuments.
For Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King, the necessity to view the universe as a product of a purposeful creator was obvious.
The World War II Memorial is included by West because of the central role of Social Darwinism in the totalitarian ideology of German dictator Adolph Hitler. For Hitler, survival of the fittest was incontestable fact. So many young Americans died ending the war Hitler started:
