JOE BALLARD is the first Legislative Assistant hired by newly elected Rep. Maya Flores (R-Texas). Previously, Joe was a Public Affairs Associate at KMP Group DC. Joe’s 2020 MA in Economics was awarded by the University of Alabama, which also awarded him his BA in Economics and Finance the same year.

SOPHIA MONDRAGON takes over in a unique combination slot of Press Secretary and Legislative Correspondent for Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.). Prior to moving up on the Oregon Democrat’s staff, Sophia was a Legislative Assistant. She graduated in 2020 from Seattle University in 2020 with a BA in Political Science.

GILLIAN BUTCHER has moved into a Staff Associate slot working for Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.). Before joining the Capito staff, Gillian was Director of the Randolph County (W.Va.) Family Resource Network. She received her BA in Political Science and Criminal Justice in 2017 from West Virginia Wesleyan College.

There is a new face around the offices of the Republican staff of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and his name is JACOB DEPERALTA. Jacob comes aboard with Ranking Member Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas) as a Special Assistant/Policy Analyst following tenure as an Intern on the Senate Foreign Policy Committee staff. Jacob’s Masters in Public Policy was awarded this year from Pepperdine University School of Public Policy and his BS in Marketing Management came from Missouri State University.
