HILL STAFF NEWS: Here’s Where You May Find Your Next Congressional Job

BRENDAN LOPEZ had a rewarding experience as an Intern working for the Minority Staff of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, and he has now joined the Minority Staff of the House Energy and Commerce Committee as Press Assistant. Brendan is a 2025 graduate of Cornell University with a BA in Government.
MATTHEW MARGO is the new Technology Policy Fellow working for Rep. John Moolenaar (R-Mich.), the Chairman of the House Select Committee on China. Matthew comes to the Hill after an Internship at the Heritage Foundation’s Center for Technology and the Human Person. Matthew is a 2026 graduate of Purdue University with a BS in Finance.

JAEGER GOWIN signs on as a Staff Assistant on the House Budget Committee, marking his first full-time position on a congressional staff. Jaeger is a 2026 graduate of Texas Tech University with a BA in Political Science, History and International Studies. He’s also a former Ranch Hand where, he explains, he “developed a strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and the ability to operate in demanding outdoor conditions.”
YOCHABELL MARES ALVAREZ makes the move up from Staff Assistant to Constituent Services Associate/Office Manager for Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-Calif.). Yochabell also served as an Intern on the District staff of the California Representative. Yochabell is a 2025 MPA graduate of California Baptist University College of Science and Arts and a 2024 BA graduate in Political Science and Government from the University of Hawaii.
