COLE CARNICK makes another move up in the office of Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), going from Speechwriter to Communications Director/Speechwriter. Cole has been with Blackburn since jumping to the Senate side following stints as Speechwriter for Speakers of the House Mike Johnson (R-La.) and Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.). He is a 2019 BA graduate of the University of Michigan in Philosophy, Politics and Economics.
SYDNEY BRANTON is now the Legislative Director for Rep. Chuck Edwards (R-NC). Before taking over the top legislative slot on the Edwards staff, Sydney served as Senior Legislative Assistant. She is a 2024 graduate of the University of Georgia with a BA in Political Science and Public Relations.
JENN PIATT moves into the Legislative Director slot on the staff of Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) after taking care of business as Deputy Legislative Director/Chief Counsel. Jenn has been on the Hill since 2015. She earned her law degree in 2012 from Creighton University School of Law, as well as her MS in Government Organization and Leadership there the same year. Jenn’s BA in Political Science and Government/Chicano and Latino studies was awarded in 2008 by the University of Nebraka, Omaha.
ERICA JAMES is taking on the challenges of serving as Staff Assistant for Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI) after being in the Archivist role for the Michigan Democrat. Erica earned her BA in Public Policy in 2025 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her MPP this year from the same institution.
