LANCE TROVER is the new Communications Director for Speaker of the House Mike Johnson. Lance is a veteran of both Capitol Hill and the national campaign circuits, working as Press Secretary for the Doug Burgum for President campaign and Communications Director for Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.). He received his Law and Bachelor’s degrees from Southern Illinois University.
Lance Trover apparently took seriously President Harry Truman’s quip about what to do if you want a friend in Washington, D.C.
There is a new Chief of Staff in the office of Rep. Morgan Luttrell (R-Texas), but JACKIE OLVERA is already a Luttrell veteran, having worked on that staff for three years, beginning in 2023 as a Legislative Assistant.
Before that, Jackie was a Legislative Assistant for Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-Fla.) and her first job on the Hill was as a Fellow on the staff of former Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee. Jackie is a Texas Aggie, earning her BS in Environmental Studies in 2018.
SOPHIE ULIN moves into the Deputy Communications Director slot for Sen. Michael Bennett (D-Colo.). Previously, Sophie was Bennett’s Press Secretary and she has served as Press Assistant for Rep. Rick Larson (D-Wash.) and Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-Ore). Sophie is a 2021 Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Southern California with a BA in Narrative Studies and Psychology.
DANNY SEPULVEDA returns to Capitol Hill after a 13-year absence, taking on duties as Senior Advisor to Sen. Mary Cantwell (D-Wash. His previous stint on the Hill included stints in various positions working for then-Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), Sen, John Kerry (D-Mass.) and Rep. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.). Danny earned his BA in History in 1994 from Emory University and his MPP from the University of Texas Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs in 1996.
