HILL STAFF VIEWS: Big Majorities of Congressional Aides Think Their Work Environment is Great
Large majorities of congressional aides responding to the latest survey by the House Office of Congressional Workplace Rights (OCWR) view their office environments as favorable.
Based on five factors, 76 percent or three-quarters of the 1,515 respondents view the congressional work environment as “favorable,” while only 13 percent describe the environment as “unfavorable.”
On the five factors, 84 percent responded “favorable” when asked about Teamwork, 79 percent did so regarding Supervision, 76 percent said so on Opportunities, 75 percent concurred on Senior Leadership, as did 66 percent on Awards & Recognition.
A major focus of the OCWR is in addressing instances of harassment in congressional offices and the perception of the vast majority of Capitol Hill aides seems to that such employment is safe.
Fully 94 percent of the respondents say they have never been sexually harassed, while 84 percent said they’ve never been harassed in a non-sexual manner. And 85 percent said they have never been racially harassed.
