HILL STAFF VIEWS: Most Congressional Aides View Religion as ‘Very Important’
(TWO-MINUTE READ) — This may come as a totally unexpected shock for many, but check out the latest CNCT Capitol Pulse survey results that show 55 percent of all the anonymous responders claim religion is “Very Important” in their lives.

Reaching for faith on Capitol Hill.
I have to confess to being surprised by that result, as I’ve long thought the 12,000+ Capitol HIll aides are roughly divided into thirds: One-third having a faith that is central to their lives, one-third who don’t think about faith much, but aren’t opposed to it, either, and one-third who are actively consciously anti-religion and/or openly atheist or agnostic.
There is a huge gulf between GOP aides and those on the Dem side, with 72 percent of the former putting religion as Very Important, but only 20 percent of the latter. On the male/female side of things, things were a little more even, with 62 percent of the men saying yes to religion and 44 percent of the women.
Another surprise is the lack of distance on this question between older and younger aides. Among those over 30 years of age, 54 percent said religion was Very Important and 48 percent of those under 30 said the same thing.
