HILL STAFF VIEWS: Most Congressional Staffers Are Thumbs Down on Facebook AI
News that Meta employees Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create content on Facebook gets a heavily negative response among congressional aides, according to a recent CNCT Capitol Pulse survey.

What if you can’t know if a Facebook post was written by a person or by AI?
Among Democrats, 71 percent turned thumbs down on the idea, while 61 percent of the Republican staffers did so. Among results by position, Communications Staffers had the highest thumbs down at 78 percent.
Perhaps curiously, a big majority, 62 percent of aides under age 30 said the practice is “bad,” while 45 percent of those over 30 said so. At the opposite end of reactions, 18 percent of staffers over the age of 30 said using AI to create Facebook content is a “good” thing, while only 10 percent of staffers under the age of 30 said the same thing. None of the Communications Staffers said the process is “good.”
Viewed by chamber, using AI appears to be significantly more unpopular among Senate than House staffers, as 78 percent of the former rejected it but only 57 percent of those on the latter did so.
Interestingly, there were also significant groups of “disinterested” aides, including 31 percent of House staff and 19 percent of Senate aides. Fully 30 percent of the GOP aids were disinterested and 23 percent of Democrats.
