HILL STAFF VIEWS: Most Hill Men Back Incentives for Having Kids

More than half, 52 percent, of the men working as congressional aides who responded to the latest CNCT Capitol Pulse online survey responded positively when asked if they think the government should incentivize having babies.

The idea appears to have broad support among Capitol Hill men as 76 percent of the Republican guys answered affirmatively and 43 percent of the Democrats did so.

The percentage was 75 among junior level GOP men in policy positions, but almost the exact opposite among Democratic men in junior level policy positions, with 67 percent say no.

But what may be the most interest facet of these results is how women working as congressional aides responded when asked if they support government incentives for having babies.

Fully 83 percent of the Democratic women responded negatively to the suggestion, while among GOP women working on the Hill, the figure was 43 percent. Overall, 59 percent of all Democratic aides responding turned thumbs down, compared to 20 percent of the GOP aides.

Those responding that they were “Unsure” about how they would view such incentives made up 13 percent of the overall respondents.
