HILL STAFF VIEWS: Three-fourths of Congressional Aides Back Partial or Full Ban on Processed Food

(QUICK READ) — When President Donald Trump appointed Robert F. Kennedy Jr to be Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), it put the latter’s “Make America Healthy Again” (MAHA) agenda centerstage on Capitol Hill and across the nation.

One of the central MAHA initiatives is reducing or entirely eliminating the nation’s dependence on highly processed foods. What that would look like is far from obvious at this early stage, but the concept of a full or partial ban commands huge support among the 12,000+ congressional aides working on the Hill, according to the latest CNCT Capitol Pulse survey.

Going for the full ban — “Yes, fully” — among the anonymous aide responders was 35 percent, which, combined with the 41 percent who backed “Yes, partially,” means 76 percent, or three-quarters, are lining up behind RFK’s MAHA.

Only 18 percent said they are opposed to such a move, with more Democratic staffers than GOPers coming down in opposition, 27 percent to 12 percent. Interestingly, nearly half, 46 percent, of the respondents aged 30 or more said No, compared to only 13 percent of those under 30.

The “Unsure” total came to only six percent of all the respondents.
