Are You Willing to Bet Against the Odds Pascal’s Wager is Right?

Blaise Pascal was a 17th century French mathematician/physicist/theologian who came up with a famous “wager” with which he sought to illustrate his conviction that believing in the existence of God makes far more sense than not believing.

Is Jesus Alive’s Erik Manning describes Pascal’s Wager as follows:

* If God exists and we commit to God, we’ll experience an infinite good — heaven.

* If God exists and we don’t have faith, we might go to hell, and well, that’s no bueno. Infinite no bueno.

* If God doesn’t exist, then whatever we’d gain or lose would only be finite.

So, argues Manning, “the smart money says bet on God as long as the chances of theism being correct are more than zero.” I would only stipulate that if you don’t faith, the odds are pretty solid you do go to Hell in a permanent change of residence.

But three prominent members of the atheist community on YouTube beg to differ, including Rationality Rules, Cosmic Skeptic and Genetically Modified Skeptic. All three members of this trio have significant objections that Manning addresses in the following video. At 10:38, it’s a bit longer than the HillFaith usual, but I assure you it is well worth the added time investment:
