GLIMPSES OF GOD, Episode 3: How Many Stars Can You Count ?

(QUICK VIEW) — How long do you think it would take you to count to one million, assuming you spoke each number out loud and said two digits per second? Three or four days? A week maybe? Think you could even keep going long enough to get to a million?

Well, HillFaith asked ChatGPT how long it would take and here is the response:

“If you mean speaking each digit separately—saying 125 as ‘one, two, five’—about 34 days of nonstop speaking, assuming two digits per second. Counting from 1 through 1,000,000 requires speaking 5,888,896 digits. At that pace:

  • Around the clock: 34 days.
  • Eight hours a day: 102 days, or about 3½ months.

“That assumes no pauses beyond the speaking pace—and considerable patience!”

Think you could keep going without stopping day or night for 34 days? Note, “without stopping” means no meals, no breaks and no bathroom runs (unless you can count without interruption during such visits!).

And do you really think you could do 102 consecutive days during which you did nothing but count to one million? It’s highly doubtful even the most devoted mathematician in the world could even come close to doing that!

This is hugely important because we’re “only” talking about going to one million. What if the assignment was one billion or one trillion? Or one hundred trillion billion? That’s the challenge facing anybody who wants to know how many stars there are in the universe.

And you thought there are a lot of grains of sand on the beach! It’s all explained in the following short video from the John 1010 Project’s amazing short video series, Glimpses of God, Episode 3:
