How Christianity Probably Didn’t Begin (Part 2): Peter Only Hallucinated the Resurrection of Jesus?
Peter only hallucinated the resurrection of Jesus. Yes, that Peter, the one who denied knowing Jesus three times before the cock crowed — was so distraught by the death of his Master and so exhausted by the horrors he had witnessed as a result that the former Galilean fisherman suffered a grief-driven hallucination.
That hallucination made Peter think Jesus had come back to life and so that’s what Peter preached for the rest of his life and ultimately got himself crucified for doing so.
Tradition even has it that Peter insisted that the Romans crucify him upside down as he was not deserving of the same death as Jesus suffered.
And that’s a key part of how Christianity got started, at least according to the theory offered by Paulogia that Erik Manning of Is-Jesus-Alive addresses in this second installment of a three-part video series. Enjoy!
