STAFF NEWS: Look Who Is Moving Up On The Hill This Week (Might Be Somebody You Know!)

JAMIE VARELA steps up from Legislative Aide to Legislative Assistant for Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL). Jamie began his career on the Hill as an Intern for Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) in 2017, then moved to the Rubio office where he has been ever since. Jamie earned his MPA in 2017 from the University of Southern California Sol Price School of Public Policy and his BA in Speech Communication and Journalism from California State University at Long Beach in 2013.

Adding the duties of Deputy Chief of Staff to her Communications Director responsibilities for Rep. Marc Veasey (D-TX) is EMILY DRUCKMAN. Emily previously worked for Rep. Raja Khrishnamoorthi (D-IL). She earned her MPM in 2017 from George Washington University and her BA in English in 2014 from Rhodes College.

MADELYN DERKS is the new Legislative Assistant working for Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-MO). Madelyn was previously a Staff Assistant for Hartzler. She is a 2021 BS graduate of the University of Missouri (Columbia) in Agribusiness Management. 

Stepping up as National Security Advisor to Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) is XIYUE WANG. His PhD in Eurasian History, Islam and Nationalism expected in 2022 from Princeton University, while his MA in Russia and Eurasia Studies was awarded by Harvard University in 2008 and his BA in International Studies and History came from the University of Washington (Seattle) in 2006.
