STAFF NEWS: This May Be The Best Hill Departure Email Ever
People come and go on congressional staffs regularly, so it’s not unusual for anybody who has frequent contact with Hill aides to send an email and receive a response that the individual no longer works for senator or representative so-and-so or this-or-that committee or caucus.
Such emails are pretty standard, boring, formulaic compositions, something along the lines of “I no longer work here. In my absence, please contact Joe Blow for help.”
But then there is Sen. Tim Scott’s now-former Chief of Staff Jennifer DeCasper, who recently departed the South Carolina lawmaker’s office and left this delightful email message for those who have not yet heard of her move:
Hello! Welp, if you got this message you’re finally learning I am no longer with the office of the coolest Senator, Tim Scott.
If you need the new Chief *sniffle/tear/cry* please reach out to Neri Martinez at [email protected]. She’s great, you’ll love her.
If you actually do need me, please reach out to my former assistant who I am forcing to remain my friend, Rebecca, at [email protected]. She knows how to find me. She uses a bat signal, but it’s more like a mosquito.
Thanks!
