YOUR DESIGNED BODY: The Two ‘Hard Problems” Your Body Must Solve

In the following 2:40 video, “Your Designed Body” co-author, computer engineer Steve Laufman describes the two “hard problems” that must be solved for life to begin and to continue.

First, there is the basic problem of living. Our bodies have 11 major systems, each of which must simultaneously function properly or we die. Just to pick the most obvious example, if your body’s pulmonary system is malfunctioning, preventing the essential processing of oxygen, it’s curtains.

Second, there is the hard problem of reproduction. Just as with the problem of daily living, the problem of reproduction requires multiple systems to be up and functioning perfectly. Or else.
