HILL STAFF NEWS: Look Who’s Movin’ On Up The Hill This Week

SOPHIE MACHALEC returns to the staff behind Rep. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.) to be Scheduler/Legislative Assistant. Previously, Sophie was an Account Manager with Advocacy Associates LLC and before that she was the South Carolinian’s Scheduler. Sophie expects to complete her MA in National Security Policy Studies at Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service in 2024. Her BA in Political Science was awarded in 2021 by the University of Oklahoma.

CASSANDRA JOHNSON takes up her first position working on Capitol Hill, moving into the Digital Director slot for Rep. Joyce Beatty (D-Ohio). Before making the jump over the a congressional staff, Cassandra was Director of the Innovation Portfolio for the Association for Enterprise Opportunity. She has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in Economics and Latin American Studies from Brandeis University.

Hill staff veteran JEFF MOREHOUSE makes his return to the congressional aide ranks, taking over as Leadership Chief of Staff for Rep. Richard Hudson (R-N.C.). Jeff’s previous duties were at ClearPath, Inc. where he was Managing Director for Government Affairs. Jeff’s first job on the Hill was in 2003-2004 as a Legislative Correspondent for Rep. John Culbertson (R-Texas). Jeff’s MA was earned in 2009 from the U.S. Naval War College and his BA from Southern Methodist University in Political Science and History came in 2003.
