MYTH-BUSTERS: Check Out This Four-Point Test to See if Miracle Claims Are True

Christians believe Jesus Christ was crucified dead on the cross, He was buried in a tomb hewn out of a big rock, and He rose alive again three days later. The Resurrection is the greatest of a whole series of miracles Jesus performed during His three-year ministry in Galilee and Judea.

Wait just a minute there! I’ve got a test for you.

Other religions also claim miracles, which creates a situation in which thinking people ask themselves how can they know if a claimed miracle like Jesus’ resurrection or the Greek god Zeus turning in a bull are true, or merely lies, figments of somebody’s imagination or rumors that got repeated often enough that they took on a false authenticity?

As it happens, there are multiple ways of testing miracle claims, and Erik Manning of Is Jesus Alive? has made an awesome 8.21 illustrated video in a series he calls “The Skeptic’s Guide to Miracles.”

In this hugely entertaining and informative video, Manning explains how and why the four-part test originally conceived by the Scots’ theologian and historian, Charles Leslie, is an especially easy-to-use tool for sorting out facts from fiction:
