MYTH-BUSTERS: ‘The American Miracle: Our Nation is No Accident’

(TWO-MINUTE READ) — There are repeated evidences throughout the Old Testament of God working providentially in human history, but what about in the modern era? Did God just decide to take the Deist route and let mankind go its own way?

That’s an especially relevant question in America because so many secular historians have emphasized the Deist beliefs of a small circle within the most influential members of the Founders, especially Thomas Jefferson, drafter of the Declaration of Independence, America’s third president and the founder of what became the Democratic Party.

But acknowledging Jefferson’s Deism — which prompted him, for example, during his White House years to delete all of the Jesus material in the New Testament to create the Deist version of the Bible —  doesn’t preclude the decisive influence of other, far more numerous Founders who were definitely Christians.

Nor does it preclude the possibility that God had something, possibly a very great deal indeed to do with the success of the American Revolution against England, then the world’s greatest Superpower, as well as the inspiration behind the Constitution.

That’s the point of “The American Miracle: Our Nation is No Accident,” the docudrama production debuting June 9, 10 & 11 as a Fathom Entertainment and Heroic Pictures release. You can follow weekly updates at www.americanmiraclemovie.com.

Yes, there is convincing archeological evidence that God parted the Red Sea for the Hebrews fleeing Egypt.

The docudrama is based on Michael Medved’s two great books, “The American Miracle: Divine Providence in the Rise of the Republic” and “God’s Hand on America: Divine Providence in the Modern Era.”

The moving force behind this film is the superb outfit known as “Patterns of Evidence,” which describes itself as producing “Thinking Man’s Films.”

This Minnesota-based bunch led by documentarian Timothy Mahoney has already turned out an impressive series of superbly produced, rigorously documented and arrestingly narrated documentaries focusing on God’s role in ancient history, especially for Israel.

Mahoney’s great works debuted in 2015 with the widely-praised “Patterns of Evidence: The Exodus” that examined the rarely before discussed archeological and other evidence demonstrating the Hebrew flight led by Moses from 400 years of Egyptian slavery is demonstrably a historic event.

SPEAKING OF MR. JEFFERSON:

Did you know he said this in his “Summary of the Rights of British America,” written in 1774, almost two years before he drafted the Declaration of Independent?

“The God who gave us life gave us liberty at the same time; the hand of force may destroy, but cannot disjoin them.”
