SCIENCE AND FAITH: Meet the Oldest Continuously Living Organism on the Earth

(SIX-MINUTE READ/WATCH) — It’s the Great Basin Bristlecone Pine, found only in the high altitude regions of Eastern California, Nevada and Utah. These twisted, gnarly, twisted trees have endured the gale force winds, extreme cold and lightning-sparked fires for approximately four millennia.

Think about that — When Egypt was becoming the world’s first great empire, these hardiest of all plants were just beginning to spring forth from the rocky soil. They were growing through the age of empires, continuing to grow and thrive in the Middle Ages and maintaining their mighty groves at 10,000 feet right up to the present day.

You can dismiss these majestic survivors as the products of mere chance, or, as the folks at the John 10:10 Project and partners Illustra Media and La Mirada Films do in the following beautifully produced 5:54 video, you can consider how the Bristlecone Pine shouts to us that there must be a Creator.
