HILL STAFF VIEWS: 85 Percent of Hill Aides View Social Media as ‘Net Negative’
(QUICK READ) — In what may well be the least expected survey results of 2025, fully 85 percent of the congressional aides anonymously responding to a recent CNCT Capitol Pulse poll agreed that social media is a “Net Negative.”
Yes, you read that correctly – 85 percent!
We hear a lot these days about 80-20 issues, but who would ever have expected such overwhelming consensus among Democrats and Republicans, junior and senior policy aides, on the value or lack thereof of social media? Check out the full results below:
Who said “net positive” 15 percent overall
- 22 percent DEM Sr. Policy / 15 percent DEM Women
- 21 percent GOP Under 30 / 18 percent GOP House
- 15 percent GOP / 12 percent DEM
Who said “net negative” 85 percent overall
- 100 percent GOP Jr. Policy / 93 percent GOP Senate
- 90 percent DEM Under 30 / 89 percent DEM Men
- 88 percent DEM / 85 percent GOP
Takeaway: Next question: Are you willing to give social media up?
How many politicians don’t like social media because it results in calls and demands from constituents? How many bureaucrats hate unfettered social media because evidence contrary to “safe and effective” spreads quite inconveniently?
Not surprised about the male female split. Too many women use social media to Bully others! Often men.
God bless you
