HILL STAFF VIEWS: A Few Surprises in Hill Aides Closing Views on Biden
(THREE-MINUTE READ) — Ask congressional aides their view on an outgoing presidential administration and the responses can be expected to follow very much along partisan lines. So it is now with now-former Chief Executive Joe Biden.
The overall rating of all responses (all of which are anonymous in the Capitol Pulse Surveys) was 37 percent approval, which closely matches that general public’s view of Biden leaving office with a 36 percent approval number.
Not surprisingly, more Democratic congressional aides gave positive marks to Biden than did Republicans. Among the former, 29 percent rated Biden “Great” and 57 percent said “Good.” Republican numbers were three percent and seven percent respectively.
But check this out: Among staffers over age 30, Biden received a “Good” rating from 62 percent, compared to just 28 percent among those under 30 years of age. That is the kind of “age gap” normally seen with departing GOPers.
Those aides overall who rated Biden as “terrible” included 39 percent of operations staffers, 38 percent of policy aides and the same percentage among Communications aides.
