HILL STAFF VIEWS: DOGE Draws Mixed Reviews Among Hill Aides

(ONE-MINUTE READ) — Republican staffers, especially those in the Senior Policy Staff ranks, are enthusiastic about President-elect Donald Trump’s announced plan to have Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy head a newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) for the purpose of eliminating as much as $2 Trillion in federal spending.

Fully 81 percent of the GOP Senior Policy Staff said they are positive about DOGE, and 52 percent of the GOP Junior described themselves in the same way, according to the results of a recent CNCT Capitol Pulse survey.

Republican staffers overall are positive about DOGE by 58 percent, compared to only three percent among Democrat staffers. Age also makes a big difference generally with 67 percent of those over 30 being positive and only 30 percent of the younger aides.

Among the “Negative” responders were 89 percent of the Under-30 Democratic staffers and 82 percent among Democratic aides overall. The figure for GOPers with a Negative view of DOGE was 19 percent overall and 25 percent for those under 30.

Curiously, a quarter of the GOP staffers under 30 said they are “Unsure” about OGE, as did nine percent of the younger Democrat staffers.
