TESTIMONIES: Allison Byxbe’s Four Bible Verses to Help With Depression

We all have those hours, days, sometimes weeks or more, when depression hits, making every task seem overwhelming, drying up our reserves of optimism and hope, and sparking doubts about pretty much everything.

Such times can be especially challenging for those who know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Surprised by that claim? Don’t be because Christians experience the same emotions, pains and temptations that non-believers do.

The difference is believers know, even when it doesn’t “feel” that way, that they aren’t alone, that they have the priceless resource of the Word of God, and that they are loved by Jesus with a love that conquers all things, including depression.

As Peter, who know something about emotions that went up and down and sideways, tells us at I Peter 5:6-7 in a classic verse: Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”
