TESTIMONIES: Atheist Mathematician Thought Nobody Really Knows For Sure
(9:58 VIDEO) — For years, mathematician Jeffrey Geibel was convinced that nobody could prove God exists, so therefore, there He could not possibly be. Jeffrey’s incessant question to anybody claiming otherwise was “how do you know that? Why? Why? Why.”
He often engaged in conversations with a wide variety of people with many different views because he wanted to understand why the world and everything in it are as they are. But too often after two or three questions about the ground on which people based their views, they couldn’t answer his basic question.

When Jeffrey went back to school for his Masters degree in math, however, the unexpected occurred when he took a course on the origins of geometry. There he was introduced to the infinite regress that follows from having no fixed facts or absolute truth.
That was a huge problem because, he thought he knew, logic was “real,” but how could that be if every statement requires a reason.
The “proof” is just another statement requiring a reason. Thus the infinite regress and the impossibility of resolving the question about God.
