TESTIMONIES: An Atheist’s Intense Hatred of God Is Softened and Changed by Christian Love
Mike Arnold was a child when his family’s home caught fire. In the ensuing blaze, he survived by jumping out of a second-story window but his two brothers both died, one of smoke inhalation and the other of severe burns over 90 percent of his body.
Mike became a devout, convinced and bitter atheist, filled with understandable anger about the injustice and horror of his brothers’ deaths. He spent much of his adolescent and early adult life challenging Christians at every turn to explain how God could allow such horrors.
But then Mike’s wife became a believer and through her he was eventually exposed to Christians who weren’t even close to the stereotype that had dominated his thoughts for many years since his childhood.
Friendships developed and in the course of time, Mike began to see the love of Christ in action. Today, he is a Baptist minister. Here’s his gripping story:
