TESTIMONIES: Jason Jackson Jr’s Faith Journey, the NFL and Living the Viral Life

(8:15 VIEWING) — Jason Jackson Jr. lost his father to a 40-year prison sentence when he was just a little boy, so he was raised by his mother. Life was tough in his childhood, to say, the least, but he had a dream to play football.

But something happened to him during his college playing years that he says altered the course of his life forever. It involved his desire to make the party scene, since “that’s what college athletes do.”

Instead of popularity and happiness, however, Jackson said “I slowly started to lose myself trying to fit into that environment.” When he heard the New Testament story of the Prodigal Son, the message he heard was this: “The life that you want to live is on the other side of repentance.”

That moment was the beginning of a new life and a remarkable journey for Jackson, but it wasn’t an easy one in the early years.

He made the NFL, but then walked away from it because he couldn’t shake the conviction that he was being called to tell the world about God, as he describes it in the following 8:15 video produced by I Am Second:
