WHAT WOULD YOU SAY: Is Jesus God?
(FOUR-MINUTE WATCH) — If the answer to the question in the headline above seems obvious, then either you are already a follower of Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior because you are convinced that He is in fact God.
Or you are one of the many people who reject that claim — which Jesus repeatedly made about Himself — but you are likely willing to consider Him a “great moral teacher,” or a prophet or little more than a figure from an ancient fable.
But, as the latest edition of the Colson Center’s superb “What Would You Say?” video series explains, the answer to that question is the headline is vastly more complicated, and yet simultaneously simpler, than it seems in the absence of seriously considering all of the evidence:
I do not believe that Jesus is God. I do believe he is the only begotten Son of God, and there is no way to be saved except through Jesus the Messiah.
Rom 10:9, 10 (NASB 20):
9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus [as] Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;
10 for with the heart [a person] believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
Del, just checking to make sure what I publish is what you wrote: You are saying you reject Jesus’ claim to be God, but you accept Scripture’s claim that He is the Son of God and the only way to be saved?
That’s it
You cannot cherry pick, scripture must be squared with scripture. For example Mark 16:16 – These are the words of Christ… clear command of scripture; if you love Jesus you will obey his commandments. – John 14:15 Which scriptures are you cutting out, as the video indicated Thomas Jefferson had done? Don’t create a Jesus of your own mind – blasphemy of the 1st Commandment, also Revelation 22:12-21 – again, who are you to pick and choose?
Revelation 22:12-21 – Do you believe that Revelation is the inspired Word of God? May God have mercy on your soul if you do not.
