WHAT WOULD YOU SAY? To Somebody Who Is ‘Deconstructing’ Their Christian Faith?

(FIVE-THIRTY WATCH) — “Deconstruction.” It’s a term that, if you haven’t already heard it said by somebody, odds are good you will in the near future because it’s becoming trendy. What it means is essentially this: Asking questions about what you believe about your eternal future and why.

There is a “Deconstruction movement” in some corners of the Christian community in which somebody who has previously professed faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and in the process acquired a bit of fame or notoriety suddenly announces they have left that faith because they have for whatever reason concluded it is a false faith.

So what if one of your colleagues on Capitol Hill or a friend from another space, or even a member of your family makes a similar announcement? What do you do? How do you respond? Should you say anything?

The most important thing is to not be intimidated because, as is always the case, there is more, and less, to these sorts of intellectual trends. So check out the three recommendations presented in the latest edition of the “What Would You Say?” videos presented by the Colson Center:
