HILL STAFF VIEWS: Cryptocurrency Far From Gaining Acceptance Among Staffers

(QUICK READ) — Advocates of widespread acceptance and use of cryptocurrency have a lot of convincing to do before they can reasonably expect to find significant support among congressional staffers, according to a recent CNCT Capitol Pulse survey of opinion among Hill aides.

Opposition to cryptocurrency is especially intense among Democratic staffers, with 100 percent of Democratic Operations aides turning thumbs down, and 88 percent of those over the age of 30 doing so as well. Overall, opposition to cryptocurrency was expressed by 77 percent of Democratic staffers.

Staffers with positive views of cryptocurrency were almost unanimously on the GOP side of the Hill, with 31 percent Senate Republican aides saying they view the digital asset in a positive manner, as did 28 percent of GOP aides under 30 years of age. Overall, however, the positive figure among GOP aides equalled only 26 percent. The Democrat figure for positive responses was a mere six percent.

And over in the “Neutral” corner are found a lot of Republicans, with 55 percent of those on the junior policy side, 51 percent of all GOP House aides and a 45 percent score overall. Among Democrats, 17 percent overall expressed neutrality, while 25 percent of Democratic women and 23 percent of Democrats under the age of 30 clicked in on the Neutral side of things.
