EXODUS EXPLORED, Part 4: Moses Fled to Midian, So Maybe That’s Where Mt. Sinai Is
(5:48 VIEWING) — When Moses was a young Jewish man in the court of the Egyptian Pharaoh, he sympathized with his fellow Israelites who were enslaved. A day came Moses, seeing an Israelite being mistreated, killed the Egyptian responsible for the mistreatment.
But despite his burying the dead Egyptian in the sand, Moses’ act was discovered by the Pharaoh, who sought to kill him. So Mses fled Egypt, ending up in Midian in the Wilderness of what is now known as Saudi Arabia. There, he became a shepherd, married a local woman and lived for 40 years. But then came that burning bush and God’s new plan for Moses and the enslaved Israelites in Egypt.
That burning bush was at the base of Mt. Sinai, so the mystery of that illustrious mountain is most likely solved by looking for it in Midian. But there’s still much more to this story that is documented by science, archeology and historical documents:
