MYTHS & MISCHIEF: Is Jesus Just a Copy of Ancient Myths? Or the Fulfillment of Them All?
(9-MINUTE VIEWING) — J. Warner Wallace knows a thing or three about evaluating the value, accuracy and credibility of evidence, thanks to his three decades of solving as a Los Angeles Police detective the toughest cold murder cases that had gone unsolved for years.
Wallace was so good at solving such cases that for years he was a regular on NBC’s “Dateline” news documentary, with each episode focusing on why a particular case had gone unsolved for so long and what were the keys to unlocking the truth.
It was those same detective skills that Wallace employed during his own initially skeptical investigation into the claims of Jesus Christ, and that led him to the conclusion that yes, He really is who He said He is, the eternal savior of all who come to Him confessing their sin and professing His literal resurrection.
Along the way in his journey, Wallace has addressed the recurring claims of secularists and atheists that Jesus was nothing more than a concoction by Christians in the decades following Jesus’ crucifixion and death. An often-heard example of this claim is that turning water into wine was not unique to Jesus because Dionysus of Greek mythology did it as well.
What’s the truth? Here’s how Wallace sorted it out:
