WHAT ABOUT? How Can a Good God Allow Evil to Happen?

If God really exists, is all-knowing, all-powerful and all-good, why is there evil in this world He created? It’s a critically important question on its own terms, but also because how a Christian answers it when challenged by a thoughtful non-Christian can be a major turning point in that person’s journey to knowing God.

The answer begins with an accurate understanding of what is evil. Is something evil simply because it makes you uncomfortable? Working out on a daily basis may make you uncomfortable but from that discomfort comes a fitter you, capable of achieving more than an overweight, chain-smoking booze-hound, right?

J. Warner Wallace’s latest book is “The Truth in True Crime,” which is highly recommended by HillFaith.

But does that mean evil is dependent upon circumstances, which is just another way of saying everything, including truth and falsehood, is relative? Oh boy, now we’re getting down to the brass tacks of this WHAT ABOUT?

J. Warner Wallace is the former Los Angeles Police Detective who became known nationally as a gifted solver of “cold cases,” murder cases that had gone unsolved for years. Among much else in the way of God-given talents, Wallace had an amazing ability to recognize what is credible evidence and what isn’t.

But for the biggest part of the first half of Wallace’s life, he was an atheist. And it was those very detective skills that made him so good at solving the oldest cold cases of evil that also opened his eyes to Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Among much else, he became the founder of Cold-Case Christianity.

In the following 12:12 video, Wallace takes on this WHAT ABOUT? challenge and shows how based on sound logic and trustworthy evidence, we can confidently know how to answer that challenge:
